The Singapore Arts Festival, originally started in 1977, is a leading international art festival organized annually by the National Arts Council in Singapore. Being one of the more larger event in Singapore for the arts, it is held for a period of one month and is usually around mind-year. The festival continues to embody Singapore’s vision of becoming the capital and hub of Asia for the arts.
Known for collaborating contemporary arts with distinctive Asian elements, the festival has played a major role as a catalyst and is evidence for the development of the cultures and arts in Singapore. Inviting artists from more than 20 different countries, the art festival is a four weeks of spectacular events and performances that seeks to connect the international festival circuit as well as providing a platform for people to engage in creative art forms.
Looking into the current period, The Singapore Art Festival 2009 seeks to enrich the community with fresh perspectives towards other culture. It also offers a broad range of innovative performances and the programme brings upon playfulness and daring elements, strengthening the Festival’s position as a national performing arts platform.
